    I've seen a lot of places that Stamkos is "the new face of the Lightning", or that he's "a breath of fresh air", or that he's "the first step toward rebuilding". Now, I know that they were the worst team in the league last year, but.... um.... Vinny Lecavalier?!?! The past few years he's been in the discussion as being one of the best all-around players in the game, and he's still on their team! All of a sudden he's no longer the "face of the Lightning"? I don't get it.

    Yeah, I'm with you. The hype involving fresh blood has a lot to do with it, but it's not like they don't have some star power already.

    Another thing to consider is that they have new ownership coming in, and we all know what can happen when the new kids on the block want to define themselves. Vinny and St Louis are still essential, but Stamkos is their new toy, and new shiny things will always get the media play.
