Pictures of Crowds

by Ryan

Sometimes when you are looking for game photos you get some interesting crowd shots. With the Pens in town and the Sidney Crosby show in full swing, the main theme of photos tonight seems to be "Sidney Crosby fans in Buffalo." But you know what, screw those people. I'm not even going to bother showing you those photos because you shouldn't want to punch teenage girls in the face. Here, take a look at this kid:

That kid in the middle doing that point, just over Roy's left shoulder. That kid is awesome. I want to be friends with that kid, and if that's not possible, I want him superimposed on every Sabres celebration for the next few weeks. If I can't do it, just picture that kid in your mind.

We will have a full post in the morning, but you have to take a look at Paul Gaustad's postgame press conference. If you have any doubt why the site's named after him, listen to him trying to be all business after one of the best games of his career. If you want to be friends with the little kid above, you want to be roommates with Goose.

To Kill Some Time

by Ryan

I'll have something more substantial up in a bit, but on the Friday before Thanksgiving you need something to get you through your work day. Here are a few things you may want to take a look at while your boss isn't looking.

- Porky had this a few days ago, but can you name all 30 NHL teams in under 5 minutes?

- This has been elsewhere as well, but Life now has its image archive on Google, and that's certainly worth looking in to. Lots of cool sports pictures, including some amazing hockey shots.

- If you need a pick me up you may want to read Bill Simmons today. It's not the best he's done, but he does have a few nice things to say about Buffalo that may make you smile. Maybe.

- If you need anything else to kill a few hours, FTLT has the weekly links up as well.

Back in a bit to get you ready, or not so ready, for tonight's Sabres/Flyers game.

On Pause

by Ryan

Tomorrow I promise some Bills posts, but things got in the way today. For now, check this out:

This photo really is perfect. It's amazing that they managed to get Favre's divine glow captured on film, but now we understand why he is so revered. Even when he is doing nothing. He completely deserves the credit he gets, and I can't wait to watch him on Thursday take on the heart of America's problems. He's a true American hero, and on days like this you have to remember who's really important.

Quarterbacks.

I'm Not the Only One Asking

by Ryan

While we're on the subject of screen capping websites, check out the nice banner Sabres.com had a few days ago:

The rebuilding teams theme must resonate, I guess. I'd make the drive see the Knicks, but without Isaiah Thomas to boo it's just a crappy team playing in a historic building. Hey, that does sound familiar...

Why Yes, That's a Jets Jersey

For just a moment, let's imagine that this photo is a representation of the Monday Night Football television broadcast booth.

If that were the case the old lady holding the sign is Tony Kornheiser, and the pissed off looking guy under that arrow is Ron Jaworski.

Seriously, we get it; Brett Favre is important. He's probably a magical football wizard that will rid the world of polio with his sweat. Whatever. Just shut the hell up and watch the game. We want to watch the game, that's what we came here for. Stop talking about something you beat to death in the preseason along with everyone else.

The thing that kills me about Kornheiser is that this is his only job. It's not like he has a writing job to worry about anymore, his entire existence is being a face on television. Despite this he seems to try so hard at being an annoying jackass, which doesn't project well on television. Puzzling.

If You are Really Bored...

by Ryan

There are hundreds of things I should be doing right now, but for some reason I just finished making an avatar for one of my fantasy football teams. It's not the best of photoshops, but then again, it doesn't have to be.

I don't know if anyone cares, but if you'd like to guess the team name based on the photo, feel free.

The tags will be key for this one, and yes, I'm inherently mediocre at photoshop, thank you for asking.

Gotta Admit...

...that is one sick photo. If this doesn't win some kind of visual journalism award, there is no justice in this world for underwater picture-taking robots and the photojournalists that use them.

This will have a wonderful shelf life as a motivational poster or some sort, eh?

Getting Back to Form

Yes, Robert Royal will sign that football; but he's going to drop it first.

Just like last season.

In Honor of the Weather

by Ryan

I think this pretty much sums things up around here the past few days...

No Goal? No Problem.

Well that was a bit uneven. 4-0 the final, and Osgood is still waiting to get past the pregame warm up shots. He had 19 total, and it certianly seemed like less.

Until Monday, that is one sad looking penguin.

The Fall of Icarus

Apoligies to Chagall, but Daniel was certianly the star of this disaster.

The Year in Pictures

There are many times in which what we have to say just gets in the way of the action. When that's the case, we upload a crap load of pictures. In fact, if you want to get a sense of just how often we steal rely on the great work of photojournalists, go check out our Picasa albums. There is even an album with some test projects I've done before I put it on the Roost. The finest MS Paint can offer, really.

Actually, it really is interesting to look back on what we've put up here. Lots of game pictures and just enough photoshops to keep me reminiscing for a few hours. So, I thought you may want to take a look back with us.

The first 500 pictures are in this slide show, if you are into that kinda thing.

The next 300 or so are here. Why not sit back and relive some of the good times, eh?

That State We Sit On...

...should be a rockin' place tonight. I know I'm excited about this one, and we're a good five hours away from the former home of the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera. The Atlantic division rivals going head to head should make for a good match up. The teams know each other and certainly don't get warm and fuzzy about their time together.

All Downhill From There

At least for Dallas. Yeesh.

Hopefully the other Game One will be a bit more... contested? We'll have a preview of that one up later. For now I am in serious need of a nap...

Will the Savior come through for San Jose, or do we start talking contract figures tomorrow morning?

The HNIC That I Won't See

Hopefully the Flyers won't get to do the gayest interpretive dance I've ever seen tonight.

Why I Love the Postseason, Vol II

by Ryan

How intense is this picture?

My first thought was that not many people I know get that excited about a penalty call. My second was that Mike Richards may be the whiniest Flyer I've ever seen. After some thought I remembered that during the playoffs everyone gets that hyped over a penalty, and that Danny Briere is on the Flyers too.

The Caps looked like a completely different team at home today, but the real test will be whether they can overcome a rabid atmosphere in Philly to bring it back to the Phone Booth one more time. Between that Game Six and the little get together in Montreal, it will be one heck of a Monday.

For now my insomniac interests have turned to staring at Jon's terrifying paint incarnation of himself (see below), Aldous Huxley, and the ever important schedule of tomorrow's games. Hopefully I'm awake for Preds/Wings tomorrow.

It shouldn't be a problem. Either way I'll get just as much ice time as Hasek...
